This is my first post....I want it to be special, so I thought I would share with you a little taste of how I see life. On Friday, December 23rd, 2016, I hosted a party at my home for any and all of my female Facebook friends. Yes, you read that right, I invited them all! I had absolutely no idea how many ladies would show up, but I just knew that there may be several ladies out there, much like me, who find themselves needing a little escape from "womanhood" and all the exhaustion that accompanies it. My goal was to connect with some friends that I do not typically get to see in flesh and bone, and provide a night of giddiness and games. I believe my goal was accomplished as I had the privilege of feeding, laughing and dancing around with 40 to 50 wonderful women in my home. We played game after game with loads of prizes to gain. There was one segment of time that was serious....and that is what I want to share with you. Lately, I have been a small collector of used Luis Vuitton bags. Truly, it is not a collection that would impress anyone.... but none-the-less I have had fun with my little side hobby. My closest friends know that I have always loved purses!! Cheap purses and expensive purses and every purse in between. In the past, when I have had a nice purse that I am finished using, I will pass it on to my closest friends. I just cant stand to see them sitting on a shelf not being used. In fact, when I get a new purse, I have a few friends that put themselves on the "waiting list" for when I retire my bag, and it is really fun to bless my friends in this way. Recently I have been thinking on this older vintage bag I have by Louis Vuitton. I love it, but I just do not find myself using it, so I thought someone else may love to have it.....that led me to deeper thoughts concerning the bag. As silly as it may seem to some, I truly saw a metaphor in this old Louis Vuitton. I wrote this poem in hopes of blessing someone with the bag, and any other woman there who felt a little used up and un-valuable. I read the poem to my guests, and there were a few tears in the group. We drew names for the purse and a sweet young lady won it. I hope you are blessed by this poem, and I hope you know that you are valuable!!! No Matter What!!!
Gotta go do some laundry, so till next time~
Blessings,
Tammy
This Ole’ Bag
(by Tammy Jones)
This ole bag has value, perhaps not plain to see,
But this ole bag has value, a metaphor of you and me.
Like us, this bag was a beauty, in her youth and in her prime,
Yet still her ageless charm is seen, by those who take the time.
The time to see past a few spots and stains, to pardon a flaw or two.
Because just like us she has a past, and a history rich and
true.
Tucked deep inside she carries, loads of important stuff.
Like information and memories, this girl, she’s not all fluff!
She has a label, as we all do ourselves,
And she may seem replaceable by the new girls on the shelves.
But NO!!! She’s not replaceable, she’s special and called to be,
More than just a designer bag that’s known by her label, “LV”!
She, like us, has purpose; she’s stood the test of time.
And those who see her value, treasure her as “one of a kind.”
The new bags on the shelves haven’t seen the things she’s seen.
So if our eyes love vintage, we’ll see her as a “Queen”.
Now turning our eyes upon ourselves, let’s see what God has done.
He’s made us perfect, rips, stains and all, by the gift of His Dear Son.
So from now on when you see this bag, her story may inspire,
She’s like us, a little worn, But NEVER will retire!!
Not until the day we rest upon the “Highest Shelf”,
And find ourselves with our Heavenly Designer, who calls us to Himself!!!
In the 1930”s , Louis Vuitton’s first handbag produce for everyday use. The “Speedy”, is still in production today.
